The post will talk about changes to the education culture which we feel are not the best. To give context I was born in 1982 and in 2024 I am now 41. I remember that when I came home from school with bad grades I had a problem. Therefore I was in trouble. I was grounded. Also I would not get my allowance. Additionally, I was not allowed to go out with friends. I was to work hard and try to do more and extra work to make the school teacher happy. Therefore showing that I was putting in effort to my studies.
Now in 2024 I feel there is a change in culture and this cultural shift has been evolving throughout the years. But something I notice particularly in the international high schools here in Barcelona is that when the students have bad grades they say: “oh, its the teachers fault, they are bad teachers, I do not understand them, they do not know how to teach”.

One quick and massive flaw to notice as parents with these statements is that we know for a fact that there are students getting 7s in those classes. (A 7 is the highest grade you can get in the IB program). So these declarations from the students who get bad grades are just trying to blame someone else and not take responsability for their own actions. To make matters worse, there is now a culture amound the parents where they believe their students. They tell their students that they are right. Parents say the school is wrong and incompitent and that the teacher should be fired or maybe they can change teachers.
