IB math Applications and Interpretations Standard Level (Applications SL)
IB Home Tutor. This post will talk about IB math applications and interpretations standard level. The name of this course is commonly referred to as Applications SL. This is the easiest math course that the IB program offers. For this reason it is a favorite of those students who are not as good at math. This course used to be called IB math studies. Because of this the students can do past papers from the IB math studies level of the 2014 to 2020 examination session. One of the things that the students like about this course is that you get to use your calculator for all of the tests. The final exams in May are called papers. Applications SL has paper 1 and paper 2. Paper 1 has shorter questions while paper 2 has longer questions.
For the exam the students get to use a formula booklet, here is the corrected version that we have made as the current version released by the IB is missing some formulas and has others that are not correct.
Internal Assessment (IA)
Students in this class will also have to do an internal assessment (IA). Many students do not like to do this because the assignment is very open, essentially the IB program wants the students to apply math to some area of interest, but that math can be anything. Here is a sample of an Applications SL IA
The best and easiest thing for the students to do is use the above sample IA as a template and do an IA that is very similar. All they have to do is pick their own data set. Many students find good data sets at:

In gap minder pick a data category and find at least two related variables.
