IB Economics Tutor – This post is the second part of our FAQs.

How does it work? How do we start classes?

The first thing we do is look at the schedule and availability of the student. Many of the international schools here in Barcelona finish at 4:00pm so they are normally available after that time. Sometimes they stay in school and find an empty classroom and we do classes online. Or if they go home to do class they often arrive by 4:15 or 4:30pm. Students are often available Monday through Friday and on the weekends. Occasionally students have other extracurricular activities like sports. If this activity has a fixed schedule we take note of it to not schedule classes at that time. The classes we do have a fixed schedule.

So for example: I have a student who does class Mondays at 4:00pm and we meet every Monday at 4:00pm. We only bill for the hours done. We send the bill at the end of the month, so he does not have to pay for classes that we did not do. For example if there is a holiday.

Once we take note of the students availability, the subject they want to do, and the number of hours they want. We the teachers look at our schedules to see how is available. Please keep in mind that we are actually a very small group of teachers and there are a few of us.

What we do is very niche: IB experts, English speakers, teaching experience, living in Barcelona etc. This is a very specific profile of professional and there are few of us. So please be flexible in terms of schedule options, as we can fit you in and we do have availabillity for you, but we may have to rearrange our schedules to fit you in. Most families call in September and the classes go until the end of the school year at June 20th aprox. Our students from last year also return.
