This post is part two about students who fail the IB exams.

So there is a nice flow and overlap of learning from one year to the next. If you take a gap year after high school you will forget all of those things you have learned. And the first year of university will be very hard for you. If you want to take a gap year and can afford it. Take it after university before you start your carrer/real job. This is because often the skills you will be using in your real job may be more different to those you used in university. So it is not as important if you have forgotten some of them.

The IB program gives the results for the May exams around July 5th approximately. As soon as you see that you have failed and or did not get the score you need. Decide as soon as possible if you want to take the November exams. Once you know which exams you want to take in November call AE Teaching. Here in Barcelona (we also do classes online) so that we can schedule classes. The more hours the better. It is best to plan a lot of hours in the beginning rather than closer to the examm in November.

In general students who failed the exam or did not get the score they need are usually not good students. These students did not do past papers enough to see that they could not actually get the score they need. Students often say “oh no, with just a couple of hours I will be fine” this is a lie. These students would rather lie to themselves and their parents about their abilities rather than do the work to get the grades they need. What we want to do is do many hours as soon as possible.
