What Makes a Good IB Math IA? A good IB Math Internal Assessment is going to be based on a question that you can use a lot of IB Math to answer. But also remember, it is your school teacher in the school who is going to grade the internal assessment. This is why it is called internal, because it is graded internally inside the school. So, you want to write something that your teacher wants to read. You will want to rely heavily on their feedback. Ask them if there is something they would like to read, or if there is something they are interested in. Try to keep your teacher as happy as possible, and do everything they say, make all of the changes that they ask you to.

Then, it is also very interesting to have a sample IA, and base your IA off of that. Because then, you will know the next steps, you won’t have to think, okay, now what should I do? What should I do next? But basically, you will have your research question, that hopefully your teacher will give you or come up with, or at minimum approve, and then you will look at the contents page of the textbook or the syllabus, and see what math have I learned in the IB program that I can use to answer this question, or topics related to this question.

Then, you will calculate those things, and after you have calculated them, go back on each section and explain how it has helped you answer the research question, or what answer it has provided to the research question.
