This will help you to review all of the content that you learned throughout the two years. In our experience many of the students forget a lot of what they learn. The IB exam covers the whole syallabus. So doing IB exams is great because it shows you what parts of the syllabus you may have forgotten.
Keep in mind is that when we do university admissions counselling we always tell students to apply to at least nine universities. Three “reach” universities which may be above their level. Meaning those schools ask for IB scores above what the student is getting. Three universities at the students level. Meaning the average IB score that university accepts is the same as the predeicted grade of the student. And make sure you apply to three “safety” schools. These would be universities that are asking for IB scores well below what the student can actually get.

This way even if the students does not do well on their IB exams they still have some where to go to. Make sure that you also actually want to go to your safety schools. Because many times we have had students who did not get their predicted. They did get accepted on the low IB score they got to one of their safeties, but then later they really did not want to go to one of their safety schools. So they took a gap year. This does happen to some students each year.
This is actually very bad. As professional educators we really do not recommend students take a gap year in between high school and university. This is because students quickly forget many of the things they learn in high school. Most of the first year university classes build on the skills learned at the end of high school.
